There is an active search for a woman with felony warrants who led police on a chase through Draper, police say. According to Draper Police, an officer spotted a man driving a stolen Volkswagen near Potato Hill Trailhead and pulled him over. As officers put him in cuffs, they say the woman jumped from the passenger’s seat of the vehicle to the driver’s seat and drove off.

An Orem man is facing charges of animal torture for punching cats. Thomas Anderson, 20, faces two counts of torture of a companion animal. According to the probable cause statement, Anderson punched two cats just after the New Year.

Four juveniles were taken into custody early Tuesday morning after leading police on a short pursuit and crashing a stolen vehicle in West Valley, police said. Officers saw a vehicle run a red light near 3900 South and 4800 West around 2 a.m., according to West Valley police Sgt. Jacob Hill. When police attempted to perform a traffic stop, a short pursuit ensued. The vehicle tires were spiked around 4300 South and the vehicle slid into a snowbank shortly after, Hill said.

A man was booked into jail Saturday night after police say he assaulted a police officer, leaving the officer a concussion. This was all a result of an ongoing infant death investigation. West Valley Police say they were approached by the Unified Police Department, involved in an active investigation into the death of a 2-month-old infant at St. Mark’s Hospital.

A man suffered fatal injuries after a medical issue led to a crash in Tooele County Saturday. Jared Cornia of the Utah Highway Patrol said the crash occurred around 5:30 p.m. as the truck was traveling westbound on I-80 near mile post 72 in Tooele County.

Investigators are looking for clues to what started a fire at a reception center in Salt Lake City Thursday morning. Firefighters received a call of dense smoke coming from a building at 309 W. 1500 South around 1:40 a.m., according to a press release from the Salt Lake Fire Department.

One man was killed and two other men were wounded in a shooting outside Salt Lake City on Tuesday, and police said were looking for whoever carried out the attack. An attempted burglary led to an officer-involved shooting and police chase late Sunday night. Police say it all started at 900 West and 715 South. When Adult Probation and Parole officers arrived to the area they say confronted two male suspects during an attempted burglary. At one point, officials say, a shot was fired.

State, heard gunshots about 8 p.m. and walked outside to find the 18-year-old victim limping, said Unified Police Lt. Paul Barker.
